For merchants requiring peak performance
and complete customizability, Payflow Pro offers a seamless payment
processing solution. Payflow Pro enables payment processing through
the Payflow Pro client software. This software is a small SSL TCP/IP
enabled messaging agent that controls communications between your
application and the Payflow platform. Designed for scalability and
reliability, Payflow Pro creates a dedicated SSL TCP/IP level communication
thread for each transaction between the client and the server.
Payflow Pro is downloadable from the VeriSign
Web site as a Software Development Kit (SDK) or comes pre-integrated
with most Internet shopping carts and e-commerce platforms.
Service Features
- Rapid response
Delivers transaction response times among the fastest in the industry
(average 8-10 seconds).
- Reliable
The VeriSign client-server architecture recognizes when a transaction
attempt is aborted, never completing a transaction if the connection
from the consumer to the payment server is 'dropped'. This eliminates
the problem of 'false' authorizations that can occur with other
payment solutions.
- Low cost
The VeriSign service is designed to support your payment processing
needs at the lowest cost with unlimited credit card and Internet
check transactions. Once implemented, there are no requirements
for maintenance or upgrades.
- Automatic batch settlement
In addition to providing full transaction support, the VeriSign
system takes care of all batch management functions required for
credit card processing. This is done daily, so you can be assured
of quick availability of your funds.
- Secure
Today's popular Internet payment solutions require credit card
storage on a merchant's server, this can create a potential security
risk for a merchant. VeriSign eliminates this security hazard
by maintaining all transaction information on protected systems
that cannot be accessed. Additionally, all transactions are conducted
using the Internet standard for security - SSL.
- Merchant support tools
A browser-based secure transaction management site is provided
to support all the post-transaction needs of every merchant. This
site provides up-to-date information on transaction activity,
and a convenient desktop terminal for issuing new transactions
including authorizations and credits.
- Scalable solution
VeriSign services are delivered through state-of-the-art technology
that can adapt to your processing and business requirements. Whether
your needs are for simple integration to an HTML form, or if you
require a multi-threaded solution to support thousands of transactions
processed through multiple servers, the VeriSign system can meet
your needs and grow with your business.
Transaction Flow
When a consumer has finished shopping, the merchant's ordering system
completes all transaction-related calculations including tax and
shipping. The transaction data is encrypted and transparently sent
to our secure payment server for real-time processing. The following
diagram provides an overview of how a typical credit authorization
works.
- A consumer places an order with a Merchant,
and the Merchant uses standard SSL-enabled front-end security
for accepting transaction information.
- Merchant transfers the processing
data to resident VeriSign thin-client.
- The VeriSign client 'calls' the secure
payment server, which certifies the merchant and receives the
encrypted processing data.
- Processing data is forwarded to the
appropriate processing network, and the processor issues a response
to the VeriSign server.
- Processing response is reported back
to the merchant's client, and merchant provides approval/denial
message to consumer. Consumer connection must still be active
for transaction to be completed.
