How is a domain name transferred from one service to another?

• A domain name modification request must be sent to InterNIC.
• To authenticate the domain name transfer request, InterNIC will send an email message to the Administrative Contact.
• To authorize the domain name transfer, the Administrative Contact must reply to the InterNIC email from the same email address where the message was sent.
• After receiving the email reply, InterNIC will initiate the domain name transfer.

NOTICE: Domains registered with Registrars other than Network Solutions (InterNIC) will not be able to use this service.

Domain Transfer FAQs

How do I send in a domain name modification request to InterNIC?
VANTIXWEB Hosting will complete the forms necessary and send in the modification request to the InterNIC on your behalf. However, it is your responsibility to reply to the email that InterNIC will send to the domain name Administrative Contact.

Will VANTIXWEB Hosting authenticate the domain transfer?
Absolutely NO. VANTIXWEB Hosting CANNOT authorize the domain transfer request. Only the domain name owner can provide authentication. VANTIXWEB's role in the domain transfer process is to send in a correct and complete modification request on your behalf.

What if I cannot retrieve email from the Administrative Contact email address?
In this case, you will have to contact InterNIC directly to confirm your authority to transfer the domain name. CLICK HERE! This is usually conducted by fax.

What if I'm not sure which email address was used for the Administrative Contact?
Continue with this domain name transfer process and follow the instructions. As part of our transfer process, you will find out whether you can successfully transfer your domain through the internet.

Will the InterNIC charge me for transferring my domain name?
No. Currently there is no separate InterNIC fee for transferring a domain name from one service to another. However, you are still responsible to continue to pay the $35/year domain ownership fee.

Will my domain be registered instantly?
Through this free service, VANTIXWEB will register your domain name on your behalf. Please note that because of the large number of domain names being registered daily, in some rare cases, domain names that appear to be available may not be successfully registered.
